Backup

The shares Space and UserHomes are backed up nightly on the University's backup system. Deleted files are kept in the backup for a minimum of 100 days.

Shadow Copies

In addition to the nightly backup, every day at 12:00 and at 21:00 a shadow copy of the data disk is created. This allows users to go back in time and to retrieve several previous versions of a file or deleted files and folders without the need for accessing the backup and without the help of an administrator. Information on how to use this feature is available in this How-to from Microsoft. The client for accessing shadow copies is built in on Windows. If your OS doesn't have the previous versions client, just perform the restore from a Windows computer.

Restore

If you're not able to restore files or folders using the shadow copy function, open a ticket with file and path informations.
